HR Updated April 2026

Headcount, employees, and org structure

Every people question routes through Ceven's internal HR database — no third-party HRIS connection required. Ten dedicated tools cover the typical asks; the bot picks the right one based on intent.

The wordings below are examples, not commands. Ceven understands intent and context — say it however feels natural. "Who's our top customer?" and "tell me about the highest-grossing account this quarter" route to the same answer. References to "this month", "last quarter", "recently" are interpreted relative to today. The bot disambiguates when it's unsure rather than guessing.

Headcount

  • what's our headcount? — total active
  • headcount by department — breakdown
  • headcount by employment type — full-time vs contractor vs intern
  • headcount including terminated — historical

Employees

  • who works in engineering? — list members
  • find anyone named smoke — name search
  • tell me about Priya Shah — single-employee detail (title, manager, hire date, dept)
  • list all employees including terminated

Org structure / managers

  • who reports to Priya? — direct reports
  • who manages Jordan? — manager lookup
  • who's Diego's boss? — same intent, different phrasing

Recent hires

  • who joined this month?
  • last 5 hires
  • new hires in the last 60 days

Department snapshots

tell me about engineering returns a composite — head count, manager(s), members, open roles, comp budget. Same for sales overview, how big is marketing?, etc.

Open roles

  • list our open positions — all open requisitions
  • open roles in engineering — filtered by dept
  • highest paid open role — sorted by comp budget
  • how many open seats? — sums headcount minus filled across all reqs

Disambiguation

If a name lookup matches multiple people, the bot lists the matches and asks which one you meant — it never picks at random.

Permissions

Anyone in your workspace can ask the bot about headcount, employees, and open roles — these are typically considered baseline org-visible facts. PTO balances are accessible too (your own and others'); confidential comp data is gated behind the dashboard's RBAC, not the bot.
